I have started working on the real pages this week. Below is the very first page after ink and brushwork. The blue was added just for kicks. I am still a ways off from deciding what sort of color scheme to use.

With each page, or more specifically each panel comes a fair about of research and reference drawing. Below are a few different views of the boat drawn up before any work went into page one.

And here is the page penciled out. Excuse the quality as I forgot to scan it before inking and only have a sloppy camera phone picture.

I finally finished the basics designs for all of Project CP’s background characters. Here is an image with most of them. There are about 50 or so total that will appear in volume one.

So I got a Cintiq and have been using it mostly for design work, but I was able to recently test it out for completely digital illustration. Here are two flyers I did using it. These were inspired by the type of student drawn flyers you might see for a local metal band.

And with this batch the roughs for volume one are complete. The first installment will weigh in a little over 200 pages in its final form. With the roughs complete the next stage I have moved on to has been finalize designs for the background and supporting characters and also starting to do references drawings for the locations and objects seen throughout the story. I must say it feels great to have the rough version behind me. It is like a finished version of the book exists already, though of course there is still a lot left to do – like the actual pages.
